Tyson Van Alfen is currently a Ph.D. Candidate studying Finance in the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. In the Fall of 2019 he will be an Assistant Professor at the College of Business of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His areas of research include financial advisors, reputation, product markets, and managerial myopia.
He has experience teaching both undergraduate and MBA students topics such as investments, microeconomics, and econometrics. He enjoys bringing technology and new learning tools into the classroom. He has passed level one of the CFA exam and seeks to incorporate its material in the classroom as well.
He earned his MS in Financial Economics from Utah State University. He also earned his BS in Finance and Economics from Utah State University, where he served as the president of the Finance Club.
